Mechanical strength of coal briquettes affects its storage and transportation to the intended market, so it is one of the most important properties of coal briquettes. The studies show that the mechanical strength of coal briquettes depends on many factors, such as coal particle size and its distribution, moisture content, time of compaction, compaction temperature and pressure, the type of binding materials and amount, grade of coal, etc.
Among these factors, it can be show from the experimental works that the strength of coal briquettes is greatly affected by the type and amount of binding materials, compaction temperature, coal partical size, type of coal and the ash content on burning. Other parameters like moisture content, compaction pressure and time do not affect the mechanical strength of coal briquettes significantly.
